Since I first took up painting in the mid-90s, most of my work has been still life in soft pastel, but I also paint with acrylics and watercolours and have tried my hand at portraiture, figures, landscape, and abstraction.
I enjoy taking a quirky point of view, zooming in on my subject to find an interesting composition that suggests the bigger picture – or a narrative or character – without actually showing it. I am also fond of strong light, colour, and texture, and have a good eye for composition.
I am an ongoing student of art and take as many classes and workshops as my busy schedule allows. I am exploring various styles, genres, subjects, and media with a view to eventually finding my own unique artistic “voice”.
