Merlin Homer

Merlin Homer is a loved and respected First Nations artist whose drawings and paintings are collected and commissioned by those who cherish beautiful works of art.  She has participated in over 50 juried and solo exhibitions, dating back to 1965.  Merlin's paintings appear in several anthologies of native art and have been reproduced frequently.  From 2005-2007, Merlin was President of CARFAC Ontario, representing the legal, economic and moral rights of visual artists in  Ontario.  Merlin is also a traditional singer and a member of the distinguished native artists' collective, Aboriginal Image Makers.

Merlin's art is idiosyncratic, generally combining reference to the four directions with autobiographical, dream, and colour explorations.

As a juror recently wrote, "Merlin's layered meanings are deftly expressed, transparently morphing colours layer by layer, she delicately relates the spiritual maze of life, of Creation itself."
