Behind the Scenes - Have you ever wondered what was going on in the mind of the artist as the work was being created? Critics speculate, but you can find out at George Perdue’s solo show. Behind the Scenes exhibits recent work in sizes from small to large created under varying conditions and circumstances. The origin of all the work comes directly from life and consists of pieces completed on the location as well as pieces created in the studio from studies created on location of from life arrangements. The studio work was also supported by references to the time, mood, weather, smells, and emotions peculiar to the life experience. Accompanying each piece is a narrative describing the creative condition specific to that experience. The artist will be on hand to explore further the creative condition.
September 10 – September 28, 2008
(Opening Reception: Friday, September 12, 6-9 pm)
Paths in Dialogue - Dolores Greco, a Caledon based artist exhibits a body of work which responds and balances for her the world condition of despair. Like her response after the 9/11 attacks, where she painted skies of tranquility filled with transparent movement, one senses the journey of souls to a higher gentler plain. "I needed to show them the way somehow, it was the only thing I knew to do, to make sense of it for them and for me" . "Paths in Dialogue", like the sky series, reminds us to take repose from the daily negatives which although uninvited, somehow show up, shaking our world. Walking paths and painting their serenity gives Greco a sense of quiet and calm. The natural worlds found in Canadian woodlands provide her with abundant opportunities to reaffirm hope for humanity and the planet. Viewers are invited to dwell in the sumptuous passages, allowing for reflection and repositioning of spirit and soul.
